Former PM Deve Gowda Bashes Opposition For Disruptions in Parliament



Extremely upset with the disruptions in Parliament in the month-long Winter Session, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Friday lashed out on the Opposition parties saying that he had not witnessed such scenes in his political career so far. He said that it was extremely unfortunate that various political parties are acting as “per their convenience with the least amount concern for the common man.”

He asked, “Is there any unity in the opposition? There isn’t any unity in the opposition. All parties move forward according to their convenience by suppressing the feeling of others.”

He also added that “I have never witnessed such kind of behaviour in the 55 years of my career. I am sorry this is the people’s money they are spending, the common man is unhappy. They are not discussing the problems of the common man.”

On Friday, the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die. The Lok Sabha earlier today passed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill 2016, which seeks to replace the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995.

The Winter Session which started on November 16th, 2016 has had 22 sittings and the Modi government had listed 10 legislations to be discussed, including the vital the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Even the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Hamid Ansari has expressed his anger over the disruption of the House during the Winter Session of Parliament. He said that there have been “regular and continuous disruptions in every single session.”
He has lastly asked all parties to “introspect on the distinction between dissent, disruption and agitation.”
It is indeed, sad to see this face of the Parliament.
