Breaking News! Ex PM Manmohan Singh to be Questioned by CBI in Relation to the AgustaWestland Scam

After the arrest of ex Indian Air Force chief, SP Tyagi for questioning his role in the infamous Augusta Westland VVIP chopper deal Scam, now it is being reported that Former Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh, along with some other ministers in the former PMO, is going to be questioned as well. News 18 has revealed this news.
Apart from there, several other people may also be questioned, namely, the former PM’s then principal secretary KA Nair, erstwhile national security adviser, MK Narayanan and the former CBI director, Ranjit Sinha along witherst while special director Salim Ali.
 SP Tyagi has been accused of favouring the Agusta Westland in this VVIP chopper deal, amounting to Rs. 3,600 crore. Along with him, Gautam Khaitan, an advocate from Delhi and SP Tyagi’s cousin Sanjeev Tyagi alias Julie Tyagi were also arrested along with him. All three of them have been accused of using their position of power to influence the outcome of the deal, which amounts to illegal gratification. This was done through unlawful, corrupt and dishonest means.
 This accusation, if proven, will amount to a serious offense. It should be noted that in January 1, 2014, had refused the legal agreement with Agusta Westland, which is the British subsidiary of Finmeccanica. As per this agreement, they had to supply 12 AW-101 VVIP choppers to the IAF over the breach of obligations arising under the contract. They have also been accused of paying commercial briber of Rs 423 crore by it for securing the said deal.
CBI had also issued various Letters Rogatory, that is, judicial requests to many countries in order to secure more leads, evidences and proofs on the said case.
