Sad State of Our Country, Malayalam Writer Arrested For ‘Insulting national anthem’ on Facebook

It seems like the number of anti nationals that will be arrested for insulting our National Anthem and our national symbols will never end. Ever since the Honourable Apex Court’s ruling of mandatory standing up in cinema halls for the National Anthem, hundreds of people have been arrested for bringing shame and insult to the national anthem.

Now, a Malayalam writer and theater personality by the name of Kamal C Chavara has been arrested by the The Kerala police on Sunday for allegedly insulting the national anthem.

It is notable that Chavara had posted some portions from his controversial published book on Facebook that contained a lot of derogatory remarks for the national anthem.

The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, The Bhartiya Yuva Morcha’s workers had filed a complaint against Chavara, on the grounds of his insulting post on the social media website.

Chavara has been arrested from Kozhikkode in northern Kerala, where he had gone to attend a function.

The said writer, who was planning to plead to the court for an anticipatory bail before the arrest, tried to defend his work and said that not a single word was a part of his intention to insult the national anthem of the country.

Just a few days back, 6 people, including 1 woman had been arrested at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram, for not standing up when the national anthem was played before the screening of the films.

It is indeed, a sad situation to see the number of anti nationals being arrested for not complying with Supreme Court orders.
