I was traveling from Moradabad (U.P.) to New Delhi for some official work on December 12th. Moradabad has a huge Muslim population of about 48%.
Due to Eid, there were celebrations all over the place. I was traveling in AC 3 tier, fortunately or not, I was the only Hindu person traveling with 7 other Muslims. These people were discussing Indian politics. And by politics, I mean, verbally abusing PM Modi and his policy of demonitisation. I was patiently listening to their views, until one of them said,
“Let them rule for the us for a few years, we have been ruling them for over 1200 years.”
This statement really shocked me, not as a Hindu, but as an India. So i asked this man, “Who are ‘we’ and who are ‘them’ in your statement?” (I wanted to hear it directly from his mouth).
In reply, he said, “We (Muslims) have ruled them (Hindus) for over 1200 years.”
I further asked them, “What are your views about Md Gauri, Aurangzeb, Md. Tughlaq etc etc?”
To this, they said, “Md. Gauri is our idol. They all are our idol rather.”
By now, my curiosity was its peak, so I asked them, “How can a man who killed millions of Hindus, trashed thousands of temples on the name of Islam be your idol?”
Hearing this, the man got a little irritated. He replied in a rude and loud manner that “They all were Muslims and it doesn’t matter a Muslim is from Arab, or Pakistan, or any other part of the world. For us he is just a Muslim and we support him to the core.”
This naturally worried me a bit, but I didn’t show it to them. Instead I asked them, “If someone would come from Arab and attack India and claims for a part of India. Will you give that part to him?”
To this, they neither said a YES or a NO. They simply said ‘huh’ and turned their faces away from me.
I think this answered a lot of questions.
I’m not claiming all Muslims are like that. This is just a personal experience of mine that I thought was worth sharing.
